June 13, 2026 - AFC Toronto hosted the visiting Montréal Roses at York Lions Stadium, final score 1 - 1.
In the 60th minute, a shot by AFC Toronto’s Nikayla Small was blocked by the right hand of Montréal Roses defender Stephanie Hill, resulting in a penalty.
Kaylee Hunter stepped up to take the penalty kick and missed as the ball went wide to the right.
In the 68th minute, Small lifted the ball forward to Hunter, but this chance was blocked by Montréal’s Lucy Cappadona, leaving the ball loose inside the penalty area.
Before anyone else could react, AFC Toronto's #77 Lauren Rowe sent it into the upper-right corner of the net. On replay, Rowe was following the play in anticipation, ready to pounce in case a rebound opportunity like this materialized.
AFC Toronto looked close to bringing home the win, only for Montréal to change the story in the final moments. Around the 94th minute, deep into stoppage time, Montréal’s Lisa Pechersky threaded her way through Toronto’s defense and scored a late goal to tie the score.
To Montréal's credit, they've scored a late goal against AFC Toronto two games in a row now; on May 10 at BMO Field, Montréal scored the decisive goal in the 88th minute.
AFC Toronto’s next home game is on July 11 against Ottawa Rapid. As for this rivalry, AFC Toronto will face the Montréal Roses once on the road before hosting the Roses again at BMO Field on August 16.
